The Concord
In 1995, a straight-and-narrow high school senior obsessed with his future and his loud-mouthed, yet silently grieving grandfather who lives in the past push each other to finally embrace the present while on their family’s annual mandatory New Year’s vacation to the Concord, the grandest Catskills resort ever (well, at least in 1965). It’s a story about Jewish assimilation, Jewish tradition, Jewish schvitzing, and the power of living in the “now.”
Ben Oren is a Los Angeles-based writer and producer who grew up on Long Island. After graduating from Dartmouth College, he wrote such direct-to-video horror flicks as "Ghost Game" (it's about a game that releases ghosts) and "Cult" (it's about a cult). Over the past twenty years, he has built a career in both scripted and unscripted television, with credits that include Hulu's "The Mob," Food Network's "Kitchen Undercover," and Netflix's "The Circle." He has also developed projects with Warner Bros., CBS Studios, Studio Lambert, Topher Grace, and Gabrielle Union.
