Odd couple best friends Jess and Kayla are forced to take a cross country road trip to relocate their even more odd couple Japanese and Jewish grandmothers. As the miles and mishaps pile up, all four women are pushed to confront the lives they’ve been avoiding.
Kari and Ronit are writers, actors, and creators who write female-driven buddy comedies with Asian and Jewish leads… like them! With 15 years of writing experience, and seven years together, Kari and Ronit specialize in strong characters, punchy dialogue, and clear storytelling. Their scripts pass the Bechdel Test with flying colors. So much so that they once received the note, “Maybe you should add a man to this piece.” They met at the Upright Citizens Brigade, where they studied advanced improv and sketch, and decided to write together after watching one another perform original pieces. Kari studied at the American Musical and Dramatic Academy and received her BFA from The New School. Ronit is a graduate of NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts. Kari and Ronit owe their writing success to their kids’ preschools.
