DIMHI

Dimhi is a television anthology series based on true stories of Jews and the historical persecution they faced. Each season takes place in a different country in varying time periods, following characters living the Jewish experience of that time. Seasons would cover the Ahmad Gragn Campaigns and Slave Raids & Banditry in Ethiopia, the Farhud in Iraq, the Allahdad and Shiraz pogrom in Iran, Balfour riots in Egypt, and Moroccan Jews under the Vichy French regime. The first season starts in 1930s Yemen, telling the story of a twelve-year-old girl named Nadra, who is forced into marriage to avoid the orphan decree. Under their dhimmi status, Nadra’s sister is legally kidnapped, and we go along her brave and dangerous years-long journey in her attempt to get her sister back. The season ends with the 1947 massacre of Jews in Aden.
