Wonderful Lie
Wonderful Lie tells the story of Kurt Gerron, a German Jewish actor, writer, director who was arrested by the Nazis during World War II and sent to the Hungarian ghetto, Theresienstadt. While there, Gerron was given a choice by the SS– write and direct a propaganda film showing life in the ghetto as an idyllic utopia for the Jews, or die. Despite weaponizing his creative gifts for evil, Gerron used the production of the film as a way to help his fellow prisoners escape their hellish reality and salvage a sliver of the happiness they were tasked with depicting in this facade of a film.
Grandson to one of the original child actors in the "Our Gang" comedies of the 1930s, Aaron got the bug to work in the entertainment business from an early age. After college, Aaron chose to disappoint his Jewish mother who wanted him to go to law school by instead pursuing a career as a screenwriter. He has since written for shows on Netflix, CBS, Disney, Nickelodeon, and sold several TV and feature projects. When he's not busy disappointing his mother, Aaron enjoys hiking with his wife, playing street hockey with his sons, and obsessing over his fantasy football team.
